SoTP 0.4.0 Update


Here is the changelog for the update I have been working on when I have time for about a month:

  •  8 axis sprite rotation
  • Camera effects for explosions and player attacks
  • Hover effect for game objects
  • Simple timer (not saved yet)
  • Crate dropping items
  • Coin sprite and functions
  • Enemies can now detect you by seeing you and not just hearing you
  • Enemies go back to original position when they are not aggressive
  • Enemies can't run and fight at the same time
  • The levels you have finished are now saved (Also general bug fixes for saving behaviour)
  • Object culling improved for better FPS (not quite finished yet, hence why you have a black void at the end of hallways)
  • General FPS improvements
  • Character selector scene setup
  • Animated mugshot in HUD
  • Small animation when you get health or armor
  • New music
  • FPS counter improved (Activated by the ` key, was already added in the previous updated but had difficulty being activated)
  • Basic experience (XP) and levels
  • Levels now have unique names
  • Console message when you pick something up or when an enemy is killed
  • Tips/lore in loading screen

I also made new levels, but I never wrote down which levels (oops), so here is a list of all the levels so I can look back at this

  •  A Rocky Introduction
  • Around the Corner (That's the level from the 0.4 gameplay footage)
  • Halls of the Mountain King
  • Under Par
  • Circle in the Stone
  • Break on Through
